Well, well, well, I do not know about you but my college kid is always in need of something! Plus it is kinda nice to get a surprise every now and again, right? Our kiddos will think it is nice as well.

1. Valentine’s Day Care Package

This care package will suffice any sweet tooth. Definitely full of the kid’s favorite snacks. If you are looking for something healthy this is not going to be it. But we said we are trying to surprise them and somehow a box full of green beans doesn’t seem to be that good of a surprise! So this is your next best option! Click here to check it out and see details of what is exactly in this colorful package.

2. Bluetooth Beanie Hat

It’s cold outside and I hope that our kids are wearing hats on their heads while walking around campus. I don’t know about you but my kiddo is always walking around with earbuds in his ears. So why not combine those two things and get them this Bluetooth Beanie Hat. It is very stylish for both boys and girls and works easily with their phone. This one is a no brainer!

3. Light Up Box Sign with Letters

This cute little Lightbox is like the modern day whiteboard. It makes a cute decoration and kids can leave fun messages for each other. Also, it comes with everything you need just supply the batteries. I know the kiddos in my classroom love it. It can be hung on a wall or door or as a stand alone on a table or shelf. Perfect.

4. Inspirational Keychain

A cute little keychain like this with an inspirational quote on it would be a nice surprise. This inspirational keychain is inexpensive and would be an easy item to ship to your kids mailbox. They can hang it from a book bag zipper or on their lanyards with their IDs. Just another small reminder that we love them and that we are thinking about them. Sweet.

5. Chevron Trimmed Box Sign

I love this little sign! It is exactly that, just a little sign. But it sends a big message and that is what I love about it sooo much. I would hope that they would display this tiny sign in a location that they could see it everyday. I’m sure you’re thinking what I am thinking… big eye roll when they open the package but, my hope is that on those days when they are really missing home they can look at it and remember we love them. Ok maybe not a great gift but I think it’s simply adorable.

6. Amazon.com Gift Card

Well, I know this a little generic but who doesn’t love an Amazon.com gift card? You can customize it to any price you want to spend so it is perfect for those of us on a budget. Also, you are getting them the gift that they need. They can purchase almost anything on Amazon from food to books, school supplies to clothes, and pretty much any technology item. I think this is a win win. Then you are not wasting your money on chachkies that they are going to just throw away anyway. Smart.

7. Valentine’s Day Socks

Who doesn’t love a pair of fun socks? This box by TeeHee includes 12 pairs of fun Valentine’s Day Socks. It has a big selection of light and dark colors so they can be worn with any attire! My kid loves him some socks, so this is perfect for him. Unfortunately (for him), I swore that I would not buy him anymore socks until he downsized his sock stash. So I guess you better get on that buddy if you want me to get you these socks! Hint. Hint.

8. Burritos Tortilla Blanket

Yes, you read that right. A Burrito Tortilla Blanket. Weird, right? That’s okay I’m pretty sure our kids will think it is cool and won’t be able to wait to wrap up like a burrito. See what I did there? Yeah I know, don’t quit my day job! But anyhoo, it is even double sided so if they spill some burrito on their blanket they can just flip it over and voila! They have a new clean burrito blanket! That is just really funny to say!

9. Homesick Scented Candle

Now, I have never actually smelled one of these candles but they have decent reviews. You can get them for almost any location that you would want. I think personally the one from Ohio would stink like cows or skunks or something, but that’s just me. So, find a place you think your child will want to remember and get this neat little gift for them. It doesn’t necessarily have to be their home state/city, despite the name. I would buy a candle that smelled like my favorite beachy place instead. Creative.

10. Microwave Safe Popcorn Bowl

Here is a nifty little gift that any college student will love, a microwaveable popcorn bowl. This dishwasher safe, BPA free, collapsible, silicon bowl can create a healthy treat for your kiddo to eat in less than 4 minutes. I like the part that it is collapsible so they can store it easily without it taking up much room in their dorm. Just add popcorn kernels. Easy.

11. Giant Stress Ball

This Giant Stress Ball by ARGGH! is a perfect stress relieving ball for when our college kids need to let off some steam. It has a larger size so it will fit their adult sized hands and they can squish it and squash it to their hearts content. I personally use things like this in my classroom for smaller kiddos and I can attest to how they truly help some kids relax. Sounds like a simple solution to me. Check.

12. Essential Oil Diffuser Bracelet for Stress Relief

For men or women, this bracelet comes in different colors and is adjustable to fit any wrist size. It’s a perfect addition to any college kids wardrobe. When you add the essential oils you are also adding the stress relief action. Students can use any essential oil they want in order to find the right calming combination. Just add essential oils. Relaxing.

13. Travel Umbrella

This handy dandy little umbrella is so cute it comes in multiple colors and fits in the palm of your hand. It opens up to a full size umbrella and is perfect for our student’s book bags or purses. They will always be prepared when out walking around campus with this little guy. It is a definite must have for any college student. Totally.

Well there you have it. That is the list of 13 things you can and probably should get your big kid for Valentine’s Day. They will love anyone of these items and will definitely be put to good use. I tried to keep the items under $20 for budgeting sake since we are trying to get out of debt not create more.

I hope you found something that would be cool for your kiddo. If you did and you gifted it I would love to hear if they liked it, etc. Or if you have other items you want to add to the list feel free to comment below. Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you have a very Happy Valentine’s Day as well.

  1. I am taking some inspiration from your list for our college freshman daughter’s gift. Usually as a family, we just exchange a card and some specialty chocolate, but I am trying to do some a little more special this year. Thanks for the suggestions.
